"Rosewood and Mahogany are the traditional choices in most guitarists' instruments. Maple is the wood of choice for mandolins, violins, cellos, and most all stringed instruments (even pianos!). So why has Maple been given such short shrift in guitars? It is the wood of choice for many 12 strings. Why the dearth of Maple 6 strings? The answer is.......... I don't know! I absolutely don't understand why more guitars are not made of Maple. They sound fabulous, they look incredible, and not every other guitarist plays one. So Maple, Bubinga, Koa, welcome to my shop!" -- Jerry Welch | |||||
